Short
MindWave Medical is developing an alarm-routing system that delivers eligible hospital equipment alarms directly to the responsible staff, reducing unnecessary hospital noise and staff alarm fatigue.
Medium
MindWave Medical is developing a fail-safe alarm-routing system for hospitals. Built on the open IEEE 11073 SDC standard, MindWave routes eligible hospital equipment alarms directly to responsible staff members through a bone conduction headset in real time, cutting alarm fatigue and unnecessary noise while keeping life-threatening alarms audible. The company has completed an international clinical trial in India, and is part of the FDA's Safer Technologies Program.
Long
MindWave Medical was founded by a team of critical care physicians, who have a combined 100 years of bedside ICU experience. The company's alarm-routing platform, built on the open IEEE 11073 SDC standard, identifies which caregiver is responsible for which patient and piece of equipment in real time. Alarms are then delivered in plain-language alerts directly to a lightweight bone conduction headset instead of loudly broadcasting alarms to everyone — reducing alarm fatigue, nursing burnout, and the sleep disruption linked to hospital delirium.
MindWave has received FDA Safer Technologies Program (STeP) designation, completed a clinical trial in two ICUs in India, and is targeting U.S. market availability within approximately two years. MindWave Medical is headquartered in Knoxville, Tennessee. Its device is investigational and not yet available for sale in the United States.
